Surreal Journey – Photostory “The Night of the Great Season” at the Kunstalle in Mulhouse

Exhibitions are like invitations on a journey. This could be an interior journey, discovering an idea, a form of artistic expression or aesthetic, but it could also be a geographical journey to a new world – wrote Michel Samuel – Weis to introduce the exhibition “The Night of the Great Season” at the Kunstalle in Mulhouse in eastern France. Contemporary Lynx received this invite and without hesitation decided that this exhibition calls for a journey. The show lets us discover a young generation of artists born in the 80s inspired by surrealism – among them Jakub Julian Ziolkowski, Tomasz Kowalski and Agnieszka Polska – next to the older generation of important figures in Polish avant-garde and post-war art – Bruno Schulz, Tadeusz Kantor, Erna Rosenstein and Alina Szapocznikow, curated by Martha Kirszenbaum.
